The success and potential of Nigeria’s ICT industry is being showcased today (Tuesday) in San Francisco at the Silicon Valley Investment Forum, in a bid to attract further foreign attention.
The forum is aimed at presenting Nigeria’s good news stories to the rest of the world, notably feats recorded in policies, economic development and the successes of Nigerian startups.
Efem Akanga, special assistant for media to the Minister of Communication Technology, Omobola Johnson, said: “The aim of the three-day forum is to further highlight the potential of the Nigerian ICT sector and increase exposure of ideation and innovation in Nigeria.”
Participating startups and incubators include Jumia, Co-Creation Hub, Venia Business Hub, Wakanow.com, Interswitch and Paga.
Johnson was among the Nigerian speakers, while the Nigerian delegation also included Professor Adebowale Adefuye, Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, as well as officials of the Stanford Institute of Innovation in Developing Countries, Nigerian innovations hubs, representatives of companies in the diaspora, venture capitalists and ICT entrepreneurs.
