Dimension Data to provide global support for Riverbed deployments

Dimension Data, the South African US$5.8 billion global ICT solutions and services provider, will deliver global support for Riverbed’s WAN optimisation deployments as it looks to build closer relations with global clients.

This comes as it has joined the Riverbed Authorised Support Partner Programme (RASP).

Michael Abendanon, Dimension Data South Africa General Manager, Network Integration, said: “We are proud to become one of only a handful of Riverbed partners in the world with global RASP status. The Group has a long history with Riverbed.

“This, coupled with the strategic investments made by Dimension Data, provides the best audited coverage of Riverbed support globally.”

Through this programme, Dimension Data will support the full portfolio of Riverbed performance solutions. This includes WAN optimisation, edge virtual server infrastructure (edge-VSI), application-aware network performance management, application delivery controllers, web content optimisation (WCO), and cloud data protection for backup and disaster recovery.

Riverbed reports that “more than 20,000 organisations worldwide depend on Riverbed to understand, optimise and consolidate their IT infrastructure”.

This includes customers on the African continent where WAN optimisation is critical given bandwidth costs and in some cases latency.

Scott Downie, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Support at Riverbed, said: “Enterprises benefit from Dimension Data’s global expertise in deploying, integrating and managing significant technology implementations, which feature Riverbed performance solutions.

“As we scale our support organisation to include services from our valued partners, Riverbed is able to focus on our core competencies – providing enterprises with award-winning performance solutions that enable them to accomplish strategic IT initiatives, including IT consolidation, cloud computing and virtualisation.”
