FirstBank launches Nigeria’s first social commerce platform

FirstBank of Nigeria has launched 3al.com, the nation’s first social commerce platform in partnership with 3AL Limited.

The platform offers users various services such as retail, insurance products and e-ticketing solutions.

According to the bank, 3al.com provides both social media and e-commerce functionalities.

It said businesses can attract customers through the social media functionalities while the e-commerce platform allows online ordering and payment for goods and services.

Business owners can set up their online stores on the platform using the self-service tool, which allows them to upload their products and interact with potential consumers.

Akin Fanimokun, head of technology and services at FirstBank, said the platform would bring together businesses and SMEs.

“It is a social commerce portal that will be a meeting hub for businesses and SMEs who wish to showcase their services online; shoppers who desire to buy goods at discounted prices and individuals who love interacting and networking with friends and loved ones from all locations in Nigeria and globally,” Fanimokun said.

Payments can be made on the platform using the bank’s FirstEConnect, a robust payment gateway deployed by FirstBank which enables secure payments for goods and services through the use of most payment card types issued.
