BlackBerry partners with SA Snapplify on BB10 operating system

South African digital publishing company Snapplify was made an official BlackBerry partner at the BlackBerry 10 launch in Johannesburg, South Africa, yesterday (Thursday).

“We are working closely alongside them to grow a deeper partnership. The partnership is not only for BlackBerry10 but for all versions, we are working closely with BlackBerry to make this happen,” Wesley Lynch, Chief Executive Officer and Founder at Snapplify told HumanIPO.

Snapplify featured the new developed apps and its digital publishing platform as an app partner at the unveiling event, which occurred in six countries worldwide and was streamed live on the web.

“It has been quite exciting developing for the BlackBerry 10 platform,” said Jacques Millard, Chief Technology Officer at Snapplify.

“The development process appears to be well thought out with the choice between four development platforms. We chose to develop using the Native SDK and the tools and libraries that were available to us to use were mature and a pleasure to work with.”

Snapplify has developed app versions of various South African magazine and newspaper publications which are supported by the BlackBerry 10.

Freshly available apps developed by Snapplify include Rolling Stone, iMaverick and Compleat Golfer Magazine.

“The inclusion of our client’s apps in the BlackBerry World storefront will benefit our customers immediately and immensely,” said Lynch.

“We provided the content applications and more are to come,” Lynch confirmed.

The company is established in both South Africa and the United Kingdom, offering services on a local and global basis.

The BlackBerry SA partnership is to provide African content to people in Africa as well as globally but it is also a part of a growing relationship with BlackBerry generally,” Naidoo explained.

This partnership could contribute to bridging the gap between the South African and worldwide market, a challenging area of development Lynch addressed at the AfricaCom conference in Cape Town, in November, as reported by HumanIPO.
