Africa 24 joins Arabsat channels

World leading satellite operator Arabsat has announced the inclusion of Africa24, as African news becomes increasingly sought after worldwide.

“Africa 24 has selected Arabsat to expand its coverage and launch in French on Arabsat Badr-4 satellite at 26 degree east to cover the Middle East, North Africa and portions of Western Europe,” the company said.

Aside from this African news inclusion, the satellite company has also made plans to improve reception for North African viewers.

“Africa 24 will be able to offer African programming options to the African communities,” Arabsat added.

The expansive move is backed by the goal of increasing information access to interested Africans, as the North African audience is bigger following migrant entrance into the area from sub-Saharan Africa.

Established in 1976, Arabsat caters for the 21 member-states of the Arab League with more than 400 television channels and 160 radio stations in above 100 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Central Asia.
