SafariBookings.com, an online crowd-sourced safari guide, has been launched, allowing users to view 2,200 user-generated reviews of safaris from different countries and operators.
The website launch comes after a two-year Web search which led to users from 50 different countries contributing reviews.
The reviews focus on eight major safari countries in Africa – Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and Zambia – and also features advice from more than 750 industry experts, including authors from guidebooks such as Lonely Planet and Rough Guides.
It reviews 140 parks and includes more than 3,500 wildlife photos, with the site hoping to carry reviews of 60 percent of all major operators by the end of this year.
The site also hopes to assist safari-goers by linking to safari operators offering tours in certain areas or parks, with users having the ability to search for specialist parks, tours or animals. It also details the best time of year to go on various safaris.
