Twitter has been ranked as the best global tech company to work for in 2014 by the annual Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards, having not even been in the top 50 the year before.
The annual rankings from online jobs and careers community Glassdoor saw Twitter come in second overall with a score of 4.6 out of 5, behind consulting firm Bain & Co, with rankings determined by survey scores given by more than 500,000 employees between November 2012 and November 2013.
LinkedIn came in third overall, up from 14th the year before, while Facebook fell to fifth from top spot last year.
Interactive Intelligence (7) and Google (8) were the other two tech companies in the top ten, while the top fifty also included Qualcomm (13), Riverbed Technoloogy (17), Genentech (25), Intel (33), Apple (35), NetApp (41), Ebay (49) and Salesforce.com (50).
HumanIPO reported in October Glassdoor had ranked engineers at computer-networking equipment makers Juniper Networks as the highest paid globally, earning more than their opposite numbers at LinkedIn, Google, Yahoo! and Twitter.
Apple came in sixth on the list, with Facebook ninth. The study measured incomes between October 2012 and September 2013.
