TomTom South Africa will provide real-time traffic updates over Twitter over the festive season, including information regarding all the main toll roads and delays at toll gates.
Updates will be tweeted from the @TomTom_SA handle warning of traffic disruptions and delays on the N1, N2, N3, N4 & N17 and related toll gates, in addition to the routes already covered by the service.
The company hopes its service – which will operate across December and January – will help people plan their journeys better and arrive at their destinations on time.
“TomTom provides quality, accurate traffic information from the large national highways to the smaller secondary roads in South Africa, making it the best travel companion during the holiday season,” said Daan Henderickx, country manager for TomTom Southern Africa.
The updates will be available on Twitter, but also on TomTom’s website, smartphone app and GO series devices.
“Access to this sort of traffic information allows TomTom users to always know what to expect from their journey and where necessary, adjust their trip accordingly, making it easy and safe for anyone to be where they want to be this holiday season,” said Henderickx.
Members of the public can contribute traffic information and images by tweeting them using the hashtag #TollGateTraffic.
