White House hosts hackathon

The United States government has announced it closed entries yesterday (February 7) for the White House Open Data Hackathon which seeks developer feedback on People’s Read American Petroleum Institute (API) methods.

The White House government page invited a “small group to join [them] in Washington, DC on February 22” with skills in API, visualisation development or data services. Final invitations were sent yesterday.

Applications were open for a limited time of 28 hours from 23:00 Tuesday, February 5 to 17:00 Wednesday, February 6, Eastern Time (ET).

Chosen candidates will have the opportunity to ask questions, give feedback, present their own work, submit solutions and “build cool stuff” as they work with API developers on material for a software development kit (SDK).

The message from the White House encourages interested parties to keep an eye on their Twitter account @WHWeb for updates.
