Nokia has announced the rollout of its Lumia Black software update for Lumia owners in South Africa, including new features, imaging improvements and new apps.
New features included in the update are App Folder, which allows users to personalise their Start screens, Nokia Glance screen 2.0, which helps keep track of information in real time, and Nokia Beamer, allowing the beaming of documents and presentations to any HTML5-enabled screen.
Also on the update is Nokia Storyteller, which arranges photos by date and place, and the latest generation of imaging algorithms, improving image quality, especially in Lumia 1020.
“The Lumia Black update also brings a series of enhancements from Microsoft to Nokia Lumia smartphones,” Nokia said in a statement. “These include safe driving mode – which cuts out unnecessary distractions when you’re on the road; customised ringtones for each contact. You can now also close apps within the in multitasking view and lock the screen rotation if you wish.”
Nokia Lumia smartphones automatically check for updates every week, and will notify people when one is available.
HumanIPO reported in September on the launch of the Lumia 925 and 625 smartphones in South Africa.
