Christian Aid launches app for Lent

A mobile application for the 40-day Christian Lent period has been developed to allow users to reflect on their lives and people across the world.

Charity Christian Aid are behind the ‘Count Your Blessings’ app which will also provide stunning pictures and thought-provoking daily reflections.

“Users will be able to get daily notifications, hear uplifting stories from Christian Aid projects and take actions in solidarity with the world’s poorest people,” the charity said.

While the app is free to download, it also allows users to make donations in support of the organisation’s ongoing projects across the world.

“Optional actions include giving 10p for every bedroom in your house as a reminder of how fortunate we are to have shelter and stopping to pray for people living in conflict,” Christian Aid added.

While the app has been optimised for the retina display on Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads and some HD Android devices, users who do not have HD devices can also use the app.

The Head of Communications of Christian Aid, Steven Buckley, said expectations are that users’ prayer lives will be deeply enriched during the Lent season.

“Lent is a great opportunity to stop and think about the many blessings we enjoy and to spare a thought for those less fortunate. Many of us live busy lives and finding time to do this can be difficult. The app is designed to be easy to use and accessible while on the go.

“Lent isn’t just about giving up things we enjoy. It can be a time to be thoughtful, to pray and take positive actions which make a difference to our fellow human beings.”

The app can be downloaded for free via Apple Store and Google Play or directly from Christian Aid website.
