Nokia is focusing on internal candidates as it looks to conclude its search for a successor to Stephen Elop as chief executive officer (CEO), who will lead the company in a new direction following the sale of its devices business to Microsoft.
Bloomberg reports head of network-equipment unit Rajeev Suri is among the applicants for the job, according to people familiar with the matter, while finance boss Timo Ihamuotila is also in the running.
The new CEO will be charged with reviving the company following the sale of its devices unit to Microsoft, which also saw Elop rejoin Microsoft, where he is apparently in the running to become CEO.
Bloomberg’s sources said external candidates were also being considered, with an appointment most likely after the sale of the mobile division obtains regulatory approval.
