Yahoo! has announced its acquisition of startup Alike, an application assisting users to find nearby restaurants to their taste.
“In Yahoo! we’ve found a team as excited about this vision as we are, and who are serious about making it real,” Alike said.
According to Yahoo Inc, the Alike team will join the Yahoo! team in San Francisco and its main campus in Silicon Valley.
The financial details have not yet been released.
The app will no longer support iPhone and web browser applications supplying the similar service.
“We believe that distilled information, deeply personalised and made accessible anytime and anywhere, is what makes mobile experiences a part of our customers’ daily lives,” an Alike blog post read.
Alike’s edge lies in its “personalisation – using the restaurants and places you like to find the ones you’ll love,” Yahoo said an email.
