Motorola Mobility CEO moving to Dropbox – report

Cloud solutions provider Dropbox plans to name Dennis Woodside, chief executive officer (CEO) of Motorola Mobility, as its first chief operating officer (COO), according to a report.

According to Reuters, Jonathan Rosenberg, Google’s former head of product management, will be appointed as COO of Motorola Mobility.

HumanIPO reported last month Google had sold Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for US$2.91 billion.

Google purchased Motorola Mobility for US$12.5 billion, therefore sells it at a loss, but the company will maintain its ownership of the majority of the Motorola Mobility patent portfolio to which Lenovo will receive licences.

Lenovo said it was aware of the Woodside’s appointment.

“We are aware of this change, but we are absolutely committed to this acquisition, and remain completely confident in the Google and Motorola leadership team,” a Lenovo spokesman told Reuters.
