Applications are open for the DEMO African 2014 startup event, which will take place in Nigeria this year, the first time the event has moved outside of Kenya.
HumanIPO reported last week DEMO Africa 2014 is to be held in at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria, from September 22-26, in collaboration with the country’s Federal Ministry of ICT, the LIONS@FRICA Partnership, VC4Africa and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)
Startups and entrepreneurs seeking to pitch at the event can now apply online until June 15, in order to potentially have the opportunity to present their businesses to an ecosystem of VCs, investors, tech acquisition specialists, IT buyers and media from across the world.
A panel of judges comprising experts in tech and business will vet the applicants and shortlist the best forty on their ability to link creativity, innovation and effectiveness.
In order to qualify to launch on the DEMO Africa stage, one must have a working product ready for market and meet certain conditions expressed on the DEMO Africa website.
The launch categories for DEMO Africa 2014 are: Agriculture, Health, Education, Manufacturing, Retail, Media and Entertainment, Communication, Transport and Logistics, Energy, Finance and Banking, Water and Sanitation, Waste Management and Recycling. These categories have been created to allow for an all-inclusive application.
As in previous years, the application process is run in collaboration with the VC4Africa community platform.
