South Africa’s First National Bank (FNB) has enhanced its banking app, adding additional credit card functionality to users on tablets and smartphones.
The additions will allow users to activate and cancel credit cards, order additional or replacement cards, and view credit and other cards online.
Before the enhancement, users had to log onto internet banking, phone a call centre or visit a branch to activate or cancel a card.
“The enhancements on the FNB App remove the need for visiting a separate banking platform which gives App users a more comprehensive and hassle-free banking experience. It also makes cancelling lost or stolen cards quick and easy, reducing the risk of being defrauded,” said Giuseppe Virgillito, head of the banking app at FNB Mobile and Connect.
HumanIPO reported earlier this month FNB’s app uptake was highest among youths, with users between 18 and 25 seeing 14 per cent growth.
