Oscar Pistorius’ family has dedicated his official website to providing court updates and information to supporters, citing “enormous global interest” in the ongoing case.
The family announced the website would provide information on developments regarding the legal trial examining the circumstances of Reeva Steenkamp’s shooting by Pistorius, while also providing a channel for media requests and questions, as well as public messages of support, to be put to the family.
“We believe that this is an appropriate way to deal with the expressions of support we have received as well as keeping the media informed about any key developments in the case,” Arnold Pistorius, Oscar Pistorius’ uncle, posted on the website.
“We have every confidence as a family that when the world has heard the full evidence that this will prove to be a terrible and tragic accident which has changed many lives forever. We are praying for everyone touched by this tragedy.”
The website already features a number of the documents submitted to court, including a bail statement and the witness statements of Justin Divaris and Samantha Greyvenstein, which the defence team have used to attest to Pistorius’ character.
Statements from the family are also posted on the website.
A separate section entitled “Messages of Support” already displays heartfelt messages from fans and supporters from around the world, many pledging their belief in Pistorius’ innocence.
