Nigeria’s Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) suffered disruption and embarrassment when its website went down for more than six hours.
Customers of the bank, which passed one million Facebook likes earlier this week, were unable to access its Internet Banking services during the downtime, reported TechLoy.
A statement from the bank said it was “unavailable during an upgrade process”, but a similar instance last year saw visitors to the site redirected to another page.
GTBank’s Facebook page reached one million likes this month, having only been at 200,000 in February last year.
