SABC replaces Motsoeneng as Chief Operating Officer

Mike Siluma, South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Head of Radio News and Current Affairs, is to temporarily take over as SABC Chief Operating Officer from Hlaudi Motsoeneng.

Moetseneng, who has previously been criticised for claims he had not passed his matric (secondary) exams, will now move back to his Group Editor of Provinces role.

An SABC statement said: “The board would like to assure the public that the process of appointing a permanent chief operating officer will be concluded once all the legal impediments that has thus far prevented them from making the appointment is resolved.”

Motsoeneng’s appointment had proved to be advantageous as he had clamped down on corruption, as well as introducing cost-saving measures, saving the corporation millions of rands.

He was also responsible for the decision to take the Fish & Chip Co TV Advert “Dinner Time at Nkandla” off air.
