Bharti Airtel subscribers in Kenya, Rwanda, Malawi and Nigeria are set to receive high quality HD voice services.
The HD voice service is based on Adaptive Multi Rate (AMR) wideband technology operating in nine different bit rates.
“Surveys confirm that customers place a high value on HD voice,” Andre Beyers, Airtel Africa Chief Marketing Officer, said. “The new service will enrich end-user experience for Airtel subscribers.”
Airtel is the third operator to launch mobile HD voice services in Africa and is expected to expand it further later in the year.
