Ugandan government launch website to gauge ministry performance

The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) in Uganda has created a website that will allow citizens to access information on the performance of government ministries.

The website, gef.opm.go.ug, accesses information from an evaluation database which the government termed as a one stop center for all relevant evaluations.

The government says the evaluations are properly catalogued for easy search, reference, access and download.

The website, which was launched by Tarsis Kabwegyere, minister for general duties in the prime minister’s office, is a culmination of monitoring and evaluation works that have been ongoing for several years through the various departments, ministries and agencies.

The government hopes the portal will help promote transparency with information easily trickling down to the people.

Albert Byamugisha, commissioner in charge of monitoring and evaluation in the OPM, said: “We also have a great number of evaluations that have been carried out by development partners, civil society organisations and international agencies. All these evaluations are relevant for supporting evidence-based policy making.”
