Internet firm Yahoo! has released its diversity statistics, revealing the company employs mostly white males.

Nearly two-thirds of all employees at Yahoo! are men, with the company reporting a female employment rate of 37 per cent.

It also said 50 per cent of its workforce is White, while 39 per cent of employees are Asian and two per cent Black.

The company’s leadership is dominated by men (75 per cent), while the upper tier of management is 78 per cent White.

“Overall, our goal at Yahoo! is to create a workplace culture that attracts and retains all talents, regardless of background, and to help our people grow to their full potential,” Yahoo! said in its report.

“We have a wide range of Employee Resource Groups that serve people of diverse backgrounds and are highly engaged in their respective communities.”

HumanIPO reported last month Google admitted to having a diversity problem, saying only two per cent of its employees are Black and one per cent Hispanic.

“Google is not where we want to be when it comes to diversity, and it’s hard to address these kinds of challenges if you’re not prepared to discuss them openly, and with the facts,” said Laszlo Bock, senior vice president of People Operations at Google.
