A science lab will be launched on Friday, March 15, at the Amatshezulu Secondary School, KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) as part of the local municipality’s social investment program.
Sponsored by the eThekwini Municipality and Eris Property Developers, the science lab will enhance learners’ experience of the subject as part of school education.
Nomfundo Tshingo, science teacher at Amatshezulu Secondary School, told HumanIPO: “We feel very, very glad about the launch of the science lab.”
She continued: “We have received all the equipment that we needed. We have all the technology material for the science from Grade 8 to 9.”
Tshingo confirmed that national funding has provided the school with the necessary material to also equip Grade 10 to 12 learners sufficiently in their journey with science at school level.
Sohana Singh, spokesperson at the Municipality of eThekwini, confirmed the lab’s use for school purposes.
“Teachers will be using it to teach learners and do experiments as part of the school curriculum,” Singh told HumanIPO.
James Nxumalo, mayor of eThekwini, has invited the public to attend the launch, which will occur at the school in Hammarsdale on Friday morning, 7.30am.
