Samsung showcases new products for Africa

Samsung has demonstrated products that will be rolled out across Africa at the opening of its annual Africa Forum in Cape Town, South Africa.

Robert Ngeru, Samsung’s Commercial Director for East Africa, introduced the company’s flagship products for 2013, the highlight being the ultra definition UDTV, which can project images of four times normal 1080p definition.

Ngeru said: “The UDTV is not just a design and it’s more than just a television.”

There is as yet no price for the television set, though Samsung says it will be available across Africa in May.

Also displayed by the company were the LED F8000, which comes with Samsung’s Smart Hub pre-installed, new Evolution kits for 2012 smart televisions, the Galaxy camera and the Galaxy Grand Duo smartphone, as well as the latest fridges, audio docks, surround systems and washing machines.

“Around 50-million televisions have been sold, so that means that one in every four television sets are a Samsung model,” Ngeru said. “We have redesigned the Smart Hub from last year, and customers will now have the ability to do so much more and download a lot more variety”.
