The Oracle Apps Day began this morning at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), where key trends for the driving of mobile apps were examined.
The event is presented by Oracle experts speaking about technological changes affecting the business world from the office of finance and human relations, marketing and sales to procurement and business intelligence and supply chain management.
The complementary event was introduced by Aki Anastasiou, a presenter for talk radio 702.
Anastasiou then spoke to Kholiwe Makholiso, cluster head for application sales, about the application Oracle has developed.
“The world has gone mobile crazy, we’re doing everything on these mobile devices and that’s really one of the themes of today, to show you how Oracle apps give that agility to be mobile and at the same time have that flexibility to look at your organisation… its about that business intelligence that gives you an edge over everybody else,” said Anastasiou.
The Oracle Application allows for a business to keep real time track of employees’ information. Also, Makholiso said, through the app “you are able to view and do an analysis of your organisation… you are able to monitor your team on the go”.
When the “people” section of the application is accessed, it gives “you a view of the organisation and you’ve got every single person, who they are, what they do, contact details”.
Using a tablet to demonstrate, Makholiso said: “This is a powerful [app], it’s just amazing. If I press into the organisation I can see who is working with the organisation and who is reporting to who.”
Furthermore, information can be accessed, compared and, as an owner or manager, information relating to salaries can be accessed.
According to Anastasiou a function is available on the Oracle App, which enables the user to change the display featuring photographs of an organisation’s employees to feature Angry Birds.
Other speakers at the event include Rajan Krishnan, vice president of applications product development and product management for Europe, Middle East and Africa, at Oracle Corporation and Sudarshan Roongta, vice president for EMEA industry and insight.
