Commonwealth Broadband Africa Forum rescheduled for November

The Commonwealth Broadband Africa Forum, originally scheduled to take place in Nairobi in July but postponed over security concerns, has been rearranged for November.

HumanIPO reported in May the forum was postponed over security concerns after Kenya saw a spate of bombings, with foreign governments warning against all but essential travel to certain areas of the country and highlighting the threat of terrorism from Somali militant group Al-Shabaab.

The East Africa Com event set to take place in Nairobi was also postponed due to security concerns, with the organisers rescheduling it for September.

Organisers confirmed the Broadband Africa Forum would now take place on November 18-20 at the Safari Park Hotel.

“The theme for this year’s event will be Broadband for Accelerated Growth, the event will examine aspects of Broadband, not only developing national Broadband strategies but with an overview of the Commonwealth Broadband strategy and the role of Universal Access Funds. Delving into how countries can transcend broadband implementation to accelerate economic growth,” the organisers said.
