South African startup ubiquitous GAMING (uBi GAMING) will release one of their original games on the Mxit platform today, the first of three to be launched by June 2013.
Sudoko-based Dipalo, meaning ‘to count’ in Sesotho, will be accessible from this afternoon on the latest Mxit 6.4 platform. The first version will be free to Mxit users.
Yongama Skweyiya, co-founder at uBi GAMING, told HumanIPO: “The idea is to develop multiplayer social mobile games.
“We want our games to have a unique African perspective, but a global appeal.”
Currently in beta phase, the other games for imminent launch are Mrbrb, an adaptation of an African ethnic game Moroka with a European origin, and Xcape, for train commuters.
xCape, created to entertain Cape Town’s Go Metro train riders, can be expected by June 1.
The rabbit-dog chasing game was developed as an adaptable plug-in on the Go Metro mobi platform to give commuters access to train plans and other activities.
Mrbrb will be launched on a web platform in the United Kingdom on May 1 as part of the International Training Bootcamp final pitch stage.
HumanIPO reported earlier this month on successful entrepreneurs selected to travel to the UK in April.
uBi GAMING aims to roll out their games in Africa, starting with Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Kenya.
The company itself has members from Zimbabwe, Lesotho and South Africa. “Our business is almost like an African Union,” Skweyiya explained.
Started in 2010, uBi GAMING is a business unit of tech valorisation company InnoVartis Technology Systems.
