Blogging company 10KWEB has extended its presence into Burkina Faso, expanding its wings further into West Africa.
The blogging platform, which pays users for referral through their personal blogs, hopes to tap into the French speakers in the region. It already has its presence in Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Ghana and the Ivory Coast.
10KWEB co-founder Anthony Martins is excited at the move: “It is proof of positive word of mouth. Regardless of language or cultural barriers, people recognise opportunity when they see it. And 10KWEB is happy to offer the folks in Bobo Dioulasso that opportunity.”
Originally, the platform offers writers to open professional blogs with a minimum charge of US$10.95 per month. With every account users get features such as search engine optimised pages and numerous free plugins.
Anthony Martins and Thomas Bang founded 10KWEB in January 2012 by as an online resource for aspiring blog writers and small business owners.
Their website launched on March 5, 2012 and is currently used in the United States, Mexico, Great Britain, Germany, China, Morocco, Trinidad, Italy and New Zealand, with more markets in development.
In Nigeria, blogging has become common. Last year, HumanIPO highlighted the success of blogger and ex-model Linda Ikeji, who charges NGN300,000 (US$1,900) for adverts on her gossip blog.
