Forum to discuss Ghana connectivity

A forum, held at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan ICT Centre for Excellence and featuring key telecommunication stakeholders, will discuss how to connect all Ghanaians to the web on Wednesday.

Moderated by Kwaku Sakyi-Addo, chief executive of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, has been described as a national follow-up to Mobile World Congress, which was held in Barcelona, Spain, last month.

The Ghanaian forum will identify opportunities as well as challenges in bringing internet access and mobile applications relevant to the local market to all Ghanaians.

The forum will assemble regulators, network operators, representatives from government, the World Bank, infrastructure companies, phone manufacturing companies, tertiary institutions, mobile and content developers as well as other industry players.

Sakyi-Addo believes the forum will provide for open and stimulating dialogue. He said: “We’ll have expert conversions to deepen understanding of the impact on [the] latest telecom trends and what they mean for Ghana.”

Also joining the panel is Robert Baffuor, vice president of the Ghana Technology University College, Mavis Ampah from the World Bank, Kofi Dadzie, chief executive of Rancard Solutions and Samuel Dowuona, executive member of the Network of Communications of Reporters.
