SABC replacements expected

The nine positions left empty at the South African Broadcasting Commission (SABC) since Jacob Zuma’s acceptances of the resignations will be filled, or not, according to a report awaited from Dina Pule, minister of communications today.

A spokesperson for SABC told HumanIPO this morning that no further information is disclosed as the members are all currently in a meeting at the parliament in Cape Town.

Pule will appear straight after to present to the Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Communications with a report in the SABC’s strategy.

The appointment of an interim board is expected, according to SABC, rather than dissolving it completely as reported by HumanIPO last night.

The SABC reported: “[We are ] left without a choice, but to dissolve the SABC board, now left with only three members, and establish an interim board.”

HumanIPO also reported yesterday on the additional resignation of six members, including board chairperson Ben Ngubane.
