Tigo Ghana, a leading mobile network operator, has reported a drop in its industry market share while rivals experience growth.
Tigo Ghana’s industry market share, dropped from 3,698,409 to 3,669,472, which translates to a decrease of 0.79 per cent.
Despite the decrease, Tigo Ghana is holding onto its status as the country’s third largest mobile network operator following MTN and Vodafone.
According to the National Communications Authority (NCA), the current market share of mobile operators has experienced marginal changes since the start of the year.
The NCA reports the country’s voice subscriber base from January this year is at 26,086,795. MTN’s market share is reportedly up to 11,857,772 from 11,734,500 while Vodafone’s market share reportedly increased by 3.1 per cent, which translates to 5,423,932 subscribers.
Airtel, GLO and Expresso have all experienced an increase in the market share with figures standing at 3,273,048, 1,649,767 and 212,804 respectively.
