VC4Africa reaches 10,000 member milestone

Venture Capital for Africa (VC4Africa) has reached 10,000 members today.

The platform already has approximately 1,000 African businesses registered.VC4Africa say their aim is to close Africa’s startup-funding gap by bringing quality entrepreneurs and qualified investors closer.

Eric M K Osiakwan, a VC4Africa member and entrepreneur and angel investor, said: “VC4Africa connects global resources with local expertise and experience.

“This approach is needed to jumpstart the startup ecosystem and the community is a critical catalyzer in this. Matching the learnings of the forerunners with the energy and innovation of up and coming entrepreneurs will continue to yield results.”

The platform has self-help tools and also offers business modeling workshops as well as member hosted networking opportunities.

Furthermore, registered entrepreneurs are also eligible to receive dedicated support via the VC4Africa Mentorship Program.

To date, collectively the ventures on VC4Africa have already raised more than US$1 million in funding through the platform.

Added to this is that members from different countries such as Cameroon, South Africa, United States, Kenya, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Somalia and Zambia have managed to form joint ventures and investments.

The platform welcomes entrepreneurs to sign up for free.

The investment crowdsourcing platform collaborates with leading incubators such as  ActivSpaces in Cameroon, MESTin Ghana, the Nailab and the GrowthHub, in Kenya, Innoventures and Ice Cairo in Egypt, Ice Addis in Ethiopia, Mara Launchpad in Uganda, Wennovation Hub in Nigeria, CTIC Dakar in Senegal, Enviu in the Netherlands, and 88mph and Seed Engine in South Africa.
