BlackBerry has received an unlikely backer for its devices, Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt.
In an interview with Alan Rusbridger, editor-in-chief of the Guardian, Schmidt admitted he liked the QWERTY keyboard and that he still used a BlackBerry.
It was a surprising revelation considering Google are the developers of the Android phones, some of which also contain a QWERTY keyboard.
Schmidt has been spotted twice before using his BlackBerry twice before, in 2009 and 2011.
In the open interview, Schmidt also ruled out speculation linking him with a job inside the US Government.
Schmidt said: “”No, never. Government people have a very hard job. I much prefer this job, it’s much easier.”
