Orange Kenya announces Easter promotion

Orange Kenya has lowered prices for various voice and data devices over the Easter season as a part of the company’s strategy to increase mobile penetration.

Among devices included in the promotion include entry and high level mobile phones, data devices and desk phones purchased from Orange shops and partner outlets with discounts up to 65 per cent.

“We are committed to offering our customers quality at competitive pricing enabling the acquisition of devices that will allow them enjoy and benefit from the use of multi-feature, data enabled gadgets,” said Maureen Sande, chief corporate communications officer.

The Smartax MT880 ADSL modem is down from KSh8,500 (US$99) to KSh2,999 while the SunTab tablet is selling at KSh19,999 down from KSh23,999 pre-loaded with an Orange SIM card as well as one-month unlimited internet on mobile.

The Samsung Galaxy S Duos smartphone previously selling at KSh 22,999 is down to KSh21,499, while the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 is down by Kshs 2,000.

Orange adds that the reduced prices will increase access to the devices while at the same time allow for more flexibility in regard to compatibility with an array of operating systems including Windows, Mac and Linux.

Pointing at the recent statistics by the Communication Commission of Kenya (CCK) Sande says the figures show an increasing demand for smartphones and phones that can access data.

“Mobile penetration has been steadily rising in Kenya. The increase was slightly below two percentage points, from 75.4 per cent to 77.2 per cent, in the last quarter reviewed by the CCK.

“This indicates that the appetite for mobile devices and by extension data enabled products is still on the increase. Therefore, Orange is keen on providing more competitive options for an ever growing mobile market,” added Sande.
