East Africa science and technology boot camp slated for May

Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) will be holding a boot camp for technology entrepreneurs, slated for May 6 to 8 in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania.

Up to 10 entrepreneurs from around East Africa will be handed scholarships to the event which will cover their costs. Potential startup ideas will be rewarded during the conference and it will include a three-month mentorship programme from experienced gurus around the world.

The boot camp extends its welcome to all entrepreneurs who are using science and technology to come up with innovative products and services for the community.

“The GIST Startup Boot Camp is a 2 day experience that includes entrepreneurial training, mentoring and pitching sessions designed to spark innovative thinking and the creation of new startup ideas among technology entrepreneurs,” the organisation said.

They added that: “The Boot Camp covers all aspects of entrepreneurship from assessment and feasibility to execution.”

Some of the notable key speakers at the conference include: Jeff Hoffman, Member of founding team and former CEO, Priceline.com, Ovidiu Bujorean, Sr. Manager of GIST Initiative and Natalia Pipia, CRDF Global, GIST Initiative who will be the moderator.

GIST held their West African heat, in Dakar, Senegal bringing upcoming techies together around the continent.

The GIST Startup Boot Camp East Africa will be organized in cooperation with DTBi and infoDev.
