Airtel Nigeria wins best telecoms company and CEO awards

Airtel has bagged the 2012 Nigerian telecommunications company of the year award from City People Magazine.

According to the publishers of the celebrity magazine, Airtel Nigeria was selected as a result of the company’s “consistency in pioneering innovation in the telecoms industry and in recognition of its efforts at building a pan Nigeria 3.75G Internet Network coverage”.

Segun Ogunsanya, managing director and chief executive of Airtel Nigeria, also bagged the CEO of the Year award for his “inspirational leadership and past achievements at leading multinational organizations to attaining business success”.

The awards were received on behalf of Airtel by the company’s executive director and chief operating officer, Deepak Srivastava.

He thanked the awards organisers for the highly respected awards that recognise and honor outstanding achievements in the country.

Srivastava said Airtel is committed to retaining its blaze trailing status in the area of true innovations in Nigeria.

“At Airtel, we value our customers and this premium we place on customers has influenced most of our big decisions,” Srivastava said.

Receiving the CEO’s award, Airtel’s vice president for corporate communications

and corporate social responsibility, Emeka Oparah, described Ogunsanya as a

transformational and inspiring leader who personifies Airtel’s commitment to the empowerment of exceptionally talented Nigerian professionals.

Oparah said: “Airtel is in Nigeria for the long haul and it is committed in empowering highly talented Nigerian professionals as the only major telecoms services provider in Nigeria with a Nigerian CEO and a very high representation of Nigerian professionals at the company’s executive committee.”
