North Korea’s Twitter and Flickr accounts were hacked yesterday, with hacking group Anonymous claiming responsibilities.
As tension continues between North Korea and South Korea, the former’s Flickr site on Thursday posted a picture showing leader Kim Jong Un with a pig-like snout and Mickey Mouse drawn on his chest.
A message underneath read: “Threatening world peace with ICBMs and Nuclear weapons/Wasting money while his people starve to death.”
Tweets on the country’s Twitter account said “Hacked”, while links were provided to North Korea-related websites and the compromised Flickr page.
Hacker activist group Anonymous claimed responsibility for the attacks, with a posting on the Flickr page saying “We are Anonymous” and a statement from the group saying they had compromised 15,000 user records hosted on Uriminzokkiri.com – the government-run agency that runs the Twitter account – as well as other websites.
HumanIPO reported yesterday Anonymous had declared war on North Korea in a strongly worded statement, which followed attacks on the country’s government sites last weekend.
In their statement on pastebin yesterday (Wednesday), Anonymous said: “This is not about country vs country – This is about we, the people, the 99% (of USA and of North Korea) vs oppressing and violent regimes (like USA gov. and N.K. gov)! We, the people, are gathering together because we are stronger now and we won’t fight your wars anymore, we won’t eat your s**t anymore!!! [sic]”
