Investec are the latest South African bank to launch a mobile app, though it is initially only available on the iPad.
HumanIPO reported yesterday ABSA were expected to launch their app, Hello Money, next week, while First National Bank (FNB) have received regular praise for their innovation and use of technology.
The app is aimed at the higher end of the market for clients with Private Bank accounts in South Africa. It can be used to view balances and make payments.
Lyndon Subroyen, chief information officer of Investec Wealth & Investment, said: “This iPad App consolidates the Investec private client businesses, allowing Investec clients a clear view of their investments, as well as facilitating their transactions.”
Applications for Android and other smartphone devices are planned, while Wealth & Investment clients are able to view global portfolios, browse market data and trade shares in companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
