The average annual salary of IT professionals in South Africa increased to ZAR344,927 (US$38,000) in 2012, up from ZAR330,893 (US$36,000) in 2011.
The latest annual report from ActiveTechPros was compiled based on aggregated data from 179 South African IT professionals.
The biggest earners were IT managers, developers and project managers, while the “Government, Education and Health” sector paid the most to IT professionals.
Professionals with less than five years’ experience on average earned ZAR205,405 (US$22,700) per year, increasing to ZAR291,744 (US$32,300) for those with between five and 10 years of experience.
People with more than a decade of experience in the sector earn ZAR428,715 (US$47,400) on average.
