South African shopping comparison app PriceCheck has been listed as one of the top three BlackBerry 10 apps.
The app competed with updated versions of social media apps such as Twitter and Facebook, as well as eBay, Gameloft and Vodacom.
Andre De Wet, general manager of PriceCheck, said: “Being selected out of more than 100,000 BlackBerry 10 apps worldwide is quite a milestone,” News24 reported.
PriceCheck’s inclusion in the list of top apps is also interpreted as a sign of improvement of e-commerce in South Africa.
“It shows what is being done locally on mobile is world-class and what PriceCheck is doing for mobile shopping is the right way to go,” said De Wet.
HumanIPO reported last month on Apple app Found Shopping, which allows users to share bargain hunts citywide in Cape Town, among other places.
BlackBerry 10 launched with 70,000 apps as a strategic move to compete against iOS and Android-active smartphone users.
The top BlackBerry 10 app is to be announced on Monday, April 15.
