Premier League clubs are expected to adopt goal-line technology (GLT) this week, with the Football Association (FA) and Premier League running a joint-tender process for the supply, installation and maintenance of the systems.
The FA expects GLT to be agreed for next season by Premier League clubs at a meeting on Thursday.
“I always thought it was an ideal piece of technology to allow into the game,” FA general secretary Alex Horne told the BBC. “The [Premier League] club meeting is on Thursday so I’m expecting it to go through at that meeting.”
In order to obtain a better deal, the FA and Premier League are to run a joint-tender process for the supply, installation and maintenance of GLT systems at all 20 Premier League grounds as well as Wembley.
Hawk-Eye, Cairos, GoalControl and GoalRef are the FIFA-licenced technologies bidding for the contract. The FA wants to use the technology for the first time in August’s Community Shield.
