Huawei and Etisalat Misr have signed a deal which will give the Egyptian operator access to the latest BTS3900 radio base station technology and improve network quality.
The BTS3900 is designed to be as green as possible with reduced power consumption, which also allows it to be cost-effective.
Haitham AbdulRazzak, chief technical officer at Etisalat Misr, said: “Etisalat Misr keeps its commitment in maintaining technology and broadband leadership and will continue investing in solutions and products that will enhance service experience for consumers and enterprises.”
HumanIPO reported in January Etisalat had partnered with Ericsson to “transform” its radio network in Egypt, while in March Telecom Egypt, the majority state-owned fixed line provider, said it was considering the launch of a rival mobile network.
The Huawei deal should also help Etisalat launch an LTE network in the North African country.
