Twitter’s music app ready to play, Android annoyed

Twitter’s anticipated music app went live this week, providing the perks of follower and artist recommendations under #music on the iOS platform.

HumanIPO reported last week on the rumoured launch of the app, which is to appear by the weekend, followed by a mid-week launch on April 17.

Only available from the iTunes store at present, Android seems annoyed about no green plug-in plans as of yet.

“The bad news is that Twitter has ignored Android users and launched the app only for iOS devices at this time,” Android Community wrote on the Apple exclusive launch.

HumanIPO reported earlier this week on the launch of an Android Amazon app, available in 200 countries, of which more than 30 are African.

#music has been made available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland since yesterday morning (Thursday).

“Twitter #music: a new way to discover music and emerging artists,” the release announcement on Twitter stated.

It has been retweeted more than 1,964 times since.

Using track traffic to determine recommendations, the leading social media community now competes with other music streaming services such as Rdio, 8tracks and Spotify.

Meanwhile, competitor music streaming service Deezer also launched its Windows 8 version this week
