Twitter UK has commissioned a limited edition wireless cuckoo clock, known as the #Flock, which reacts to events on its owner’s Twitter account.
The #Flock consists of four houses, three of them home to colourful cuckoo birds, while the fourth house is a clock. The birds spring out of their houses in reaction to a new follower, retweets, or on receipt of an @ message.
Birdsong is also optional on the clock, with volume control.
Ten brands or companies which demonstrate particularly creative use of Twitter will be awarded the clocks as a special gift.
The clocks were developed by Twitter in conjunction with BERG – a London based design consultancy – which created the #Flock through its BERG Cloud platform and development kit.
“The intention was to make something surprising and delightful; a charming clock which embraces and embodies a craft aesthetic and gives a physical presence to virtual activity,” BERG explained.
