Morpheus launches buyam.com.ng e-commerce platform in Nigeria

A new e-commerce platform, buyam.com.ng has been launched in Lagos by Morpheus Online Business Services, offering Nigerian stores the chance to record exponential growth without incurring costs.

In a statement made available to HumanIPO by the company’s sales and marketing manager Williams Popoola, the company described the platform as creating an online destination for merchants.

“Buyam.com.ng is a unique “storefront” concept that allows merchants to create an online destination for their own brands within the Buyam portal. This basically means that customers can come to buyam.com.ng to buy things from specific stores,” the statement said.

Describing the importance of the platform, the managing director (MD) of Morpheus Limited, Emeka Mordi, said Nigerian stores could use the platform to grow their business without spending large amounts of money.

“We are very thrilled about our platform and the opportunities it presents Nigerian stores to leverage e-commerce to grow their businesses exponentially without the normally prohibitive associated costs,” Mordi said.

He identified security as a major reason why many Nigerians are yet to embrace online shopping, and said the platform had put this into consideration by ensuring people only buy goods from shops they are familiar with instead of an unknown online shopping mall.

“We know that a lot of Nigerians want to do their shopping online but are hesitant because of the usual issues of online fraud, security, product quality and general service quality; issues we believe are unfortunately genuine. That is why we have designed a platform that makes it possible for them to buy from stores they already know and trust rather than from a “faceless internet store

“To this end, the company is meticulous in its acceptance of merchants into the platform and only approves merchants with pedigree of product quality and price competitiveness.”

To attract more online shoppers, the company also announced a 50 per cent discount on various products including household electronics and smartphones.
