Samsung partners with Safaricom and Airtel for S4 launch

Samsung has confirmed a partnership with Safaricom and Airtel allowing Kenyans to acquire the new Samsung Galaxy S4 from May 2.

The mobile phone service operators will back the launch with attractive data bundles, with Safaricom retailing the phone backed by 4.5GB data while Airtel will offer a 21GB free data bundle.

Those who make pre-orders will enjoy much lower costs, with Airtel selling the device at KSh52,999 (approx US$630) and Safaricom at KSh57,999 (approx US$690)

According to Samsung Electronics East Africa chief operating officer Robert Ngeru, the phone deal is meant  to promote mobile internet usage in the country.

“At Samsung, we have held successful talks with the regional operators who have accepted to provide generous data bundles for customers purchasing the Galaxy S4 as part of a joint effort to promote mobile internet promotion,” Ngeru said during the launch of the Africa leg of the Samsung Galaxy S4 World Tour 2013.

Kenyans who acquire the new device will enjoy a two-year free accidental damage warranty to cover screen and liquid damages, as part of the global launch strategy by Samsung Electronics.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will be launched in synchronised events in Korea, the US, Britain and South Africa on Saturday, April 27 at 10am.
