Telkom Mobile targets higher end market

Telkom Mobile has unveiled Smart and Smart Saver postpaid voice plans, offering voice-centric consumers unlimited calls to Telkom Mobile and 8ta numbers.

Some plans will include unlimited access to free Wi-Fi at Telkom Mobile hotspots around South Africa.

According to Telkom Mobile managing director Attila Vitai the new smart range is indicative of an early fulfilment of the company’s commitment to meet the demands of higher end mobile consumers.

“Telkom Mobile is moving swiftly into new market segments as we aim to deliver on the demands of high-usage customers,” he said.

The new range of plans follows the recent launch of Telkom Mobile’s Unlimited Voice contract, which is the first of its kind in South Africa and offers unlimited calls, at any time, to any national mobile and fixed networks.

“We have categorised the Telkom Mobile plans to make it easier for customers to choose one that best suits their usage patterns,” said Vitai.

“We know that some people use a lot of voice, some use a combination of voice and data, and others lots of data. So we have structured our plans that way.”

Vital pointed out the flexibility of the plans, since postpaid consumers want to control their spending. The new plans help the consumer cap usage and buy topup bundles if they need more airtime.

The managing director promised consumers more products from Telkom Mobile in the future to simplify the decision-making process when purchasing mobile services.
