Document aggregation startup Zehoo is set to debut with the imminent launch of its Android app.
Currently awaiting Android approval, the app will enable users to get all their documents on one platform by extracting attachments from emails and other platforms such as Dropbox.
Speaking to HumanIPO, founder Robin Bayhack said: “What’s happening out there is that people have many storage accounts because you are taking advantage of free space.”
The app allows configuration of multiple accounts to simplify document searching.
Document editing and deep search options also becomes possible via an optical character recognition (OCR) processor.
Physical documents can be uploaded through a Fax2Email option, which can be configured to land straight into the app rather than another email.
“The first place people look for documents are emails, but it is difficult to find because it is buried with all kinds of mails from other people,” Bayhack explained.
The startup is part of the Seed Engine accelerator programme and will pitch at the Demo Day event, in Johannesburg on Friday in a bid to secure follow-on funding.
After its anticipated Android launch in South Africa, the app will also be released on the BlackBerry, Apple and Windows smartphones in other African, Chinese and European markets, as well on the web.
Zehoo, meaning “that’s it” or “it’s sorted” in Hebrew, is also developing an industry-specific solution which will follow after second stage funding acquisition.
“We are developing an app for specific kinds of industries where they can make their document experience more simple and more seamless,” Bayhack said.
