Matthew Dawes, managing director of All Amber, organisers of Mobile Web West Africa 2013, said this year’s edition will feature a revamped speaker faculty with more international and continental guests.
Mobile Web West Africa 2013 will be held from May 8-9, with the Mobile Marketing West Africa Focus Day taking place the day before.
A special “invite only” App Developer Day, hosted by Qualcomm, will be held on May 10.
“For 2013, we’ve got a completely revamped speaker faculty with lots more international and continental speakers and I’m expecting big things,” Dawes told HumanIPO in an exclusive interview.
“From the look of the make-up of the delegation, which is important as we have so much interaction at the event, I think it is going to be even more business focused and more senior level,” Dawes added.
He said the Mobile Marketing West Africa Focus Day is a new element and highlight’s the events maturity.
“We’ve got some serious experience and knowledge, presenters that would enhance any tech event on the continent and that’s just for a ‘focus day’ as opposed to the main conference.
“Having people like Nic Haralambous, who co-Founded Motribe, and Prakash Patel, who runs Prezence, an international award winning agency in Cape Town, alongside companies such as Twinpine, Guinness Nigeria, AdsBrook, Google and Konga.com is stunning – that’s an event in its own right,” Dawes said.
He added that around 90 per cent of the spaces had been booked.
He said: “We’re actually nearer to 10 per cent of space left with the rush of bookings we’ve had recently, so I think it’ll sell out like the two previous years.”
Concerning the cross-section of participants, he said they are from more than ten countries.
“From massive industry-leading corporations to SMEs, independent developers, agencies, brands and MNOs – a smorgasbord, which is great because of the roundtable seating format we use and the networking opportunities for everyone,” Dawes told HumanIPO.
