The next Xbox, codenamed Durango, may be called Xbox Infinity, with a touch panel similar to the PlayStation 4 (PS4).
Forbes reports the new console, which has until now been referred to as the Xbox 720, will have the tagline “Infinite Entertainment”, although the story also mentions a second source that talks of a different logo.
On the touch element the rumours continue the new Xbox will have a PlayStation Vita backside with the touch area complementing Microsoft Kinect, allowing players to both use the motion sensor and perform gestures on the touch pad.
It is further rumoured that its clickable feature will allow players to use it as a directional control pad.
Other rumoured specifications include: an AMD jaguar based CPU at 1.6GHz similar to that of the PS4, AMD’s 7000 series graphics, 12 processing clusters.
It may also project images in 3D, according to techradar.com.
Another website says the new Xbox could be set for a November release.
More concrete details are expected to emerge on May 21, when Microsoft releases an official statement, with expectations that gaming will not be the sole focus of the next generation console.
